Due to the fact that there are people in the class who either just got their picard accounts, or possibly still do not have them even now, prof. Padua has decided to give everyone in class another time extension for MP1. The new deadline is


Monday, Feb. 20 (at midnight CST).


This new deadline is final, as we have to move forward. Also, your MP2 will be assigned and posted to the website and the newsgroup before you submit MP1. We'll be aiming for having the MP2 ready and posted by this Friday, and we'll make sure to give you the sufficient time to work on MP2 after you're done with MP1, of course.


Re.: the situation with picard accounts. If you registered for the class late, chances are your name and net ID weren't on the roster at the time I asked the CSE people to create students' accounts, and so (unless you contacted me meanwhile) it is entirely possibly that you still do not have an account. Therefore, I'd like to ask everyone in class who hasn't logged on to picard yet (either because you tried but failed, or because you never even tried) to contact me *immediately*. Please send me your full name, net id, and the approx. date when you enrolled in class (i.e., was it during the early registration last fall, or just two weeks ago). I will attempt to have all the remaining accounts created in one shot, so that everyone has sufficient time to complete MP1 till Monday.


Re.: how you should submit this (and future) MPs, I will broadcast a separate announcement on that shortly. I will also share some insights from some of your classmates who figured out various aspects related to the MP that the rest of you may find useful, as well.


In summary, (1) you all have till midnight on Monday to get the MP completed and submitted, and (2) if you don't have a picard account yet, aren't sure whether you have one, and/or haven't succeeded in logging on to it as of yet, please contact me ASAP, and send me info as explained above.
